Seeking a Project Director with airports experience, having worked within Gatwick under Vinci ownership. Someone who is a Leader with a proven track record of fostering strong relationships with clients

Background

One of London’s leading independently owned contractors with a projected turnover of £200 mil in 2025, and success in delivering projects up to £80mil, they pride themselves on building strong and long-lasting relationships with clients and professional teams. They are proven in delivering intricate and logistically challenging projects on landmark buildings in central London.

The new Gatwick core works framework up to £11 million is seeking a leader. It’s a 5-year contract and our client are one of 2 companies so far awarded, carving up a minimum of £50 million a year in capital expenditure at this level. So, it’s not major works. You won’t be building the new terminal and runway. Its changes, enhancements and upgrades to the existing buildings across the airport both land and airside. The contract effectively pre qualifies you to tender per project on a lump sum D&B basis for all new work.

So, business as usual works including toilets and segregation, large scale lounges, pier fitouts, retail, security and baggage upgrades.. You name it as long as it’s NOT civils or infrastructure works. Currently our client has a strong reputation at City and Stanstead and Gatwick, and this contract could lead to being a £20 million business within a business. The opportunity is there.

Responsibility

You could be an ex-Tradesman, QS or Engineer or Construction Grad, PM or MEP Engineer, it doesn’t matter BUT you must:

• Be a client interfacing Leader with a proven track record of fostering relationships.

• Have worked within Gatwick under Vinci ownership (The old target cost days of BAA are too far gone)

• Not currently be working for Mace or a consultant. But maybe an M Group or larger like a Balfours or smaller like an AQ…

• Know the processes and permit systems including Meridian Document Control.

• Know how to evolve a program if not originate one.

• Can build a team of DMs, Site Managers and PMs as well as QS and MEP with a mix of external hires and internal staff.
